Where we are

Baker is Stunio's Founding College Partner, and the partnership that opened the door to a statewide footprint: Baker's campuses across Michigan mean Baker students benefit from every employer the network brings on, and Baker's employer relationships strengthen every other school in the network.

College Partner Guide
v1.1 · July 2026 · PDF

The full operating manual for your team, still in draft — we're building it with our college partners and Grand Valley has already reviewed it. Part 1 covers how Stunio works for students, employers, and your office: your dashboard, employer management, reporting, and safety and compliance. Part 2 is the launch and communication toolkit: email and text templates, newsletter blurbs, website and flyer copy, talking points, ambassador materials, and launch event plans. Everything in Part 2 can be customized to Baker's colors, logo, and voice. Your feedback shapes the next version.

Stunio + Your Career Platform
One-pager · PDF

The one-pager on where the line sits between Stunio and Handshake. Short version: a job board is where a student pursues the traditional internship or full-time role. Stunio runs the real work that builds toward it: single shifts, multi-week projects, micro-internships, and event and seasonal work, with your office getting visibility into all of it. Handshake advertises employment; Stunio facilitates it — scheduling, booking, certifications, same-day payment, insurance, and feedback all happen inside the system. Complementary systems, not competitors. This is the doc to hand a colleague who asks "isn't this just another Handshake?"

Click-Through Sandbox Portal
Live now · No login needed

A safe demo environment, branded as Northfield State College, our sandbox school, showing exactly what your team's portal looks like: the dashboard, student profiles and verified work records, employer management, and reporting. Click anything. It's sample data, so you can't break it. Your live, Baker-branded portal is the next step, and each of you will have your own account, not one shared login.

Five Ways Baker Can Use Stunio

From our conversations so far, here are five practical lanes for putting Stunio to work at Baker. Use one, use all five, or tell us we missed the right one — these are starting points for Monday, not commitments.

1
The employers Handshake can't help

You told us employers call your office needing someone for a project, a day, a season — work Handshake was never built for. Point them at us. Stunio handles vetting, scheduling, payment, and insurance, your office stays out of the middle, and those employers finally get an answer instead of an apology. Historically, 95% of jobs in our system book within three minutes, with a 90%+ fill rate.

2
On-campus roles, posted the same way

Baker's own departments can post through the same system: events, projects, call-off coverage, student-facing roles. A first, forgiving work experience with supervisors who understand students — and every hour of it lands in the same centralized record.

3
Experiential learning from day one

Freshmen arrive with yard-work resumes. Stunio lets them try several industries early — a shift here, a micro-internship there — so career coaching conversations happen with real experiences to point to. Students get prompted toward the certifications an opportunity requires (background checks, fingerprinting, ServSafe), building a credential record as they go.

4
Programs you already run, off the spreadsheet

If Baker tracks experiential learning, volunteer hours, or program participation anywhere today — especially on spreadsheets — that tracking can live in Stunio instead. We're doing custom builds like this with other partners (experiential-learning scoring tied to transcripts, volunteer-hour tracking tied to curriculum requirements). Tell us what you run and we'll show you what it looks like inside the system.

5
Employer discovery, done for you

We're loading roughly 30 prospective businesses around Baker's campuses into the system and will surface which ones your students are actually interested in. That data flows to your team: if 50 students want manufacturing and you have two manufacturing partners, you'll know — and we recruit against it together. Send us the employers you want to delight and the ones you wish you worked with; that list directly shapes who we go get.

How Employers Pay

A simple answer to the cost question, ready for anyone who asks.

$0
to create an account, post opportunities, and get started
35% (or less)
service fee on the student's pay rate, charged only when work actually happens. Custom subscriptions allow for reduced service fees.
Custom
subscriptions to allow employers access to Stunio features such as flexible scheduling, micro-internships, and remote jobs

Employers start at $0. There's no cost to create an account, post opportunities, or get started. They pay only when work actually happens: a service fee of 5% to 35% on the student's pay rate, which covers everything Stunio runs, including matching, scheduling, verification, same-day student payment, compliance, and support. Employers on a custom subscription see reduced service fees, typically 5% to 20%. Students always receive the full posted rate, with no posting fees, no recruiting fees, and no payroll to run.

Optional features are simple monthly add-ons. Employers who want additional features, such as remote job postings, micro-internships, or flexibly scheduled jobs, add them as monthly options. Depending on what features an employer elects to utilize, these typically run between $10 and $150 per month. Our team handles all pricing conversations so your team doesn't have to.

Enterprise subscriptions are always an in-depth conversation. Larger organizations, like health systems and large corporations, have different needs entirely (integrations, compliance, dedicated service, subscription plans that can include a reduced service fee) and work with us directly on the right setup. Either way, the ask for your team is the same: send them our way and we handle the conversation.

And the two things that never change: there is no cost to the college, and no cost to students.

Pricing details are being finalized and will be posted here. Until then, send employers with cost questions directly to us and we'll handle it. Colleges and students never pay anything. That doesn't change.

The two carrots

Money now. Experience that compounds. Students don't have to choose.

Every student comes to Stunio for their own reason. Some need income this week — work booked today, paid same-day after the shift. Some are here to build experience — trying industries, collecting verified work records, walking into interviews with something real to talk about. At onboarding, students tell us why they're here — immediate income, experiential learning, exploring industries, or something else — and the system matches accordingly. They can update those preferences any time, and it's never one or the other. The student who starts for the money is quietly building a work record. The student who starts for the resume is getting paid.

Student money matters

We teach students what earning actually means. We'd like Baker's help making it better.

Students on Stunio work as 1099 independent contractors, and most have never seen a 1099 in their lives. We're not leaving that to chance. We've drafted a set of student trainings — badge-earning modules students complete inside the platform — and we want your team's eyes on them before they're final:

Draft
Financial Literacy Basics: Understanding Your Paycheck

How payments work, gross vs. take-home, why no taxes are withheld, setting aside 20–25% for taxes, tracking earnings.

Draft
How 1099 Income Can Affect Your Financial Aid

How earnings show up on a tax return, how FAFSA reads prior-year income, why any aid impact is delayed a year, what it can mean for Pell and need-based aid, and where to get real guidance. This one was built in direct response to feedback from your team.

Draft
Student 1099 Explainer Video

A short-form version for students who won't sit through a module.

These are drafts, and we mean that. We're looking for feedback from the people who know Baker students best — your career team, and especially your financial aid office. If Baker has materials you want in front of students, we'll put them in the system. Any content — ours or yours — can be made required before a student can accept work. And on financial aid specifically: students earning real income need to track it so it doesn't blindside their aid package, and we'd like to build that guidance with Baker rather than around it.

KPIs and your dashboard

You define success. We build the dashboard that reports it.

One of the best things about starting fresh: Baker gets to decide what gets measured before the first shift is ever worked. Every interaction in Stunio is data your office can see and report on — for your team, your departments, and your leadership.

Examples of what partners track
Students onboarded and active
Opportunities posted, booked, and completed
Fill rate and time-to-book
Hours worked and dollars earned by students
Certifications and training modules completed
Active employers and repeat bookings
Student interest by industry (including demand you can't serve yet)
Engagements that convert to internships or offers
A question for Monday

If you could put one dashboard in front of your leadership at the end of fall semester, what would need to be on it? What do you wish you could report today but can't? Bring the wishlist — we'd rather build to your KPIs than hand you ours.

Employer onboarding: how approval works

Two layers of protection. You choose how hands-on to be.

Every employer that signs up passes Stunio's own vetting first — a human verifies it's a real business before anything reaches a student. We know fake employer accounts are a real problem on other platforms, and a person, not just an algorithm, reviews ours. From that pre-approved pool, Baker chooses its own layer: auto-approve employers as they clear our vetting, personally review and toggle each one for Baker students, or mix both — auto-approve some categories, hand-review others, the same way you run Handshake today. Employers approved by other colleges never reach Baker students without Baker's approval.

And one thing that never changes: when employers call your office looking for short-term help, just point them at us. Your team never manages employer relationships on Stunio. That's our job.

Open item: where the employer sign-up page lives
For your team

Where the Baker-facing employer sign-up page should live is a conversation for your team (and your web folks) — we have a few easy options, and we want to track what actually drives engagement rather than guess.

The Path to Launch

No hard dates except where stated. We set the pace together.

1
Now: explore the sandbox, read the docs, review the trainings

Bring questions Monday. Nothing here is finished until it works for your office.

2
Recurring cadence

Bi-weekly working meetings, locked to a standing slot so nothing depends on scheduling. Whoever's relevant joins.

3
SSO completion

Already in motion with your IT team. Once live, Baker students sign in with their Baker credentials.

4
Live Baker portal access

Individual accounts for each team member, with your real dashboard and data.

5
Baker-specific planning sessions

Marketing, student messaging, KPIs, and the go-live date. Maria will reach out on customizing materials to Baker's brand.

6
Welcome Week and beyond

We want Stunio in front of students where you already have their attention — Welcome Week first, then a notification sequence that reminds students they have access as postings go live. Tell us which events matter on your campuses and we'll show up for them.

7
Fall: launch

We set the date together. No pressure to have every employer or every student on day one.

What We'd Love From Baker

When you're ready. Monday is a conversation, not a deadline.

Your employer approval preference: auto-approve from our vetted pool, personal review, or a mix — and any organizations that should never reach Baker students
The employers you want to delight, and the industries and programs you want recruiting focused on
Your KPI wishlist — what should the Baker dashboard report, and to whom
Feedback on the draft student trainings, and any Baker materials (financial aid guidance especially) you want in front of students — plus whether any of it should be required before a student accepts work
Your campus events calendar — Welcome Week and anything else where Stunio should be present
Where the employer sign-up page should live on Baker's side (a question for your web/tech folks)
When employers call your office looking for short-term help

Just point them at us. That's the whole ask. Your team never manages employer relationships on Stunio. That's our job.
